1. The aim of PEEP exchanges is, on the one hand, to facilitate the integration of the European nations, and on the other hand to deepen the intellectual knowledge of both students and teachers. The participants also get the possibility to improve their social skills.
2. The PEEP project consists of three themes: Culture, History and Science, organized each year in three different schools. The organizing school hosts ±4 delegations form other schools, each consisting of 5 students and their accompanying teacher. This way, they form a European class of ± 30 students and their accompanying teachers.
Each school may select the students they send out as they wish.
The exchanges in all the three themes take place in the autumn of the school year.
3. In the spring of each year, one of the participating schools organizes a PEEP seminar.
During the seminar, the participants evaluate the exchanges that took place in the previous autumn and they discuss the topics for the coming exchanges. The organizing schools of the coming exchanges present their suggestion for a topic. Each school participates in a seminar with a maximum of two representatives. It is the responsibility of these representatives to inform the accompanying teacher of their delegation about the topic.
4. Programme of an exchange week. Here follows a number of guide-lines to the organization of a PEEP exchange week. Nevertheless, each school has the freedom to add minor adjustments to these guide-lines according to their wishes/possibilities.
The exchange starts on a Saturday and ends the following Saturday.
Saturday arrival of delegations
Sunday students: host-family day; teachers: free programme
Monday countries presentations
Tuesday thematic presentations: first round
Wednesday excursion
Thursday thematic presentations: second round
Friday evaluation for both teachers and students; writing of final report
Farewell party
Saturday departures
The organizing school is also responsible for organizing a sufficient number of social activities for the afternoons and the evenings, for both students and teachers. Such programmes could include: a theatre performance, a sports event etc.
6. Presentations. Country presentation should last max. 15 minutes, thematic presentations max 30 minutes per delegation. Students are expected to talk freely and not read out from a piece of paper. It is useful to distribute handouts on the subject of the thematic presentations among the audience as it makes it easier for them to follow it. Preferably, delegations should make limited use of ICT techniques: the “living word” is often more engaging for the audience than a PowerPoint presentation.
7. Accommodation. During the week, students live at host families. Teachers will be put up in a hotel or at colleagues.
